Prof. Dr. Engin SORHUN

Engin Sorhun is a Professor of Economics at Marmara University.  He completed his M.A. at the Sorbonne University in 2004, and his Ph.D. at Strasbourg University in 2008 in the field of international economics.

He previously held faculty positions at several high-ranked universities, including Strasbourg Technology Institute (l'Institut Universitaire de Technologie de Starsbourg) and Strasbourg University. Simultaneously with his academic life, he worked in multinational companies in different data related positions.

Prof. Sorhun who has academic studies published by SSCI indexed journals and internationally known publishing houses, took part as a project manager or specialist in national and international level granted projects related to big data. Besides, for the first time in the world, he achieved the integration of artificial intelligence training module into an economics curriculum.

Prof. Sorhun, who considers Artificial Intelligence studies as “gale of creative destruction” for social sciences has long focused his academic efforts on the adaptation and application of the tools such as machine learning, deep learning, big data into economics research and teaching.
